Abstract:
The COVID-19 pandemic has caught the world unprepared. To deal with the pandemic, countries must address the needs and issues they face during the pandemic. In the Philippines, the Interagency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) was created to handle and respond to concerns and issues regarding COVID-19. The National level of the IATF-EID is responsible for planning and devising strategies to deal with the pandemic. These are passed on to the grassroots level of the agency for implementation. In this regard, the COVID-19 response of the local IATF in terms of how they implement the plans and protocols in their respective areas of responsibility is tested. The study would like to find out the community's level of satisfaction with implementing the COVID-19 response by the local IATF in terms of information and surveillance handling, health system management, human resources, and budget and finance. The descriptive survey design through a questionnaire was used to determine the satisfaction levels on the COVID-19 response of 379 participants from three (3) barangays of a prime city in the northern Philippines. The respondents were satisfied with the responses of the local IATF on COVID-19 in areas of information and surveillance handling, health system management, and budget and finances. However, the respondents were slightly satisfied in the area of human resources. Overall, the respondents were satisfied with how the local IATF handled and implemented the protocols of the COVID-19 pandemic. In view of the results, further study must be done in other Asian countries with the same socio-economic structure as the Philippines but with different socio-cultural and ethnic structures for comparison and generalizability.
